Your Glowing Smile

“Your smile is something you and your wedding guests will remember and your pictures will show forever,” says Dr. Paul Ganjian, DDS, MA, of Next Generation Dental, which specializes in orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Ganjian works with his brother, Dr. Benjamin Ganjian, and the two are the third generation of dentists in their family.

What Do You Wish For?

You can improve your smile with straightening, veneers, and whitening. “Straightening may take anywhere from three months to a year,” says Dr. Sandra Kupferman, DMD, a periodontist who specializes in the care of gums at Next Generation Dental. “You have two choices, braces or the more aesthetically pleasing, Invisalign, a straightening system that involves clear plastic aligners which are easily removed for eating and tooth brushing.” The aligners are created specifically for your teeth and are altered every two weeks.

If your teeth are chipped they can be repaired with crowns or veneers, coverings applied over worn or damaged. Veneers also can fix mis-shaping and gaps. They can be applied on individual teeth or to your whole mouth, and the entire process can be completed in less than a week.

To cover old silver fillings so they won’t show in your photographs, bondings, or white fillings, are an optional replacement. “White resin bondings are far more attractive because they blend in with natural teeth color,” says Dr. Benjamin Ganjian. “Old silver amalgam fillings can be removed and replaced with bondings, which help reshape damaged teeth.”

A Beaming Smile
Every bride wants a whiter smile on her wedding day. Next Generation offers both at-home professional bleaching, done over two weeks, or Brite Smile, their in-office treatment that gives you a gleaming smile in an hour. Using their “Magic Mirror,” a small screen takes a photograph of your teeth and superimposes a whiter smile on it, depending upon the level of brightness you have chosen. You immediately see what results you can expect after treatment.

Next Generation uses digital X-rays in their office. With 90% less radiation, not only is it safer, but digital X-rays require no processing and are immediately readable, so a diagnosis can be made instantly.

When you have your initial visit with one of the doctors they ask about your expectations for your wedding day. “It’s vital that we’re on the same page when it comes to your treatment plan,” says Dr. Paul Ganjian. “I also ask about your previous dental and cosmetic work. By being clear about any prior work, we can meet each one of your expectations.”

The doctors stress the importance of regular dental checkups every six months. “This ensures that any developing problems will be caught early, perhaps saving you from future oral surgery,” says Dr. Benjamin Ganjian. “Regular, diligent oral hygiene must be kept up between visits. Brushing and flossing daily is the easiest way to prevent future problems.”

“There is nothing more validating to me than when a patient is just beaming after their work is done,” says Dr. Paul Ganjian. “A few women have cried when they’ve seen the results, and to touch someone’s life like that makes me love what I do.”
