Regardless of the season, a romantic approach to bridal hair and makeup never goes out of style. "Simple, soft, and elegant lends itself to any dress style, any wedding, and any bride whether she’s in her 20’s or in her 60’s," says Lilly Rivera of BridalGal, her makeup agency based on over 20 years of experience in the cosmetic and skin care industry.

"I take into consideration the type of photography that will be used in the formal shots, as well as the dress, the setting, and the time of day — but the bride’s personality is always what defines her look. When I get to know her, I try to sense her energy and essence, so the makeup better reflects her true beauty."

Since skin condition plays an important role in the appearance of makeup, Lilly encourages facials and rejuvenating treatments for hydrated skin. "The healthier your skin, the less makeup you’ll need." On Oge, she uses a light humectant and primer before applying a light textured foundation.

To customize a romantic look, she focuses on Oge’s eyes, enhancing their almond shape with warm tones. She begins with a golden satin peach shadow to give the eyes a bit of gleam for photos, followed by terra cotta in the crease and a touch of brown at the corners. For a thicker lash line, she applies dark brown eye shadow as a liner for a smokey appearance, and finishes with waterproof mascara.

On Oge’s cheeks she uses a light peach blush on the high bone, followed by a darker pink shade. For a defined and dewey look, she lines the lips with a brown lip liner and fills them in with a bronze long-lasting lip lacquer.

A makeup artist and licensed skin care aesthetician, Lilly encourages a good skin care regimen followed by nourishment, and plenty of sleep and water. "When a bride takes care of herself, it will show in the glow of her skin and the look of her face. I love contributing to such a happy day!"
For complementary hair, BridalGal stylist Jorge creates a Renaissance-inspired hairstyle for a modern princess look.
