Waiting For Prince Charming Two and a half years ago, I was sitting in my apartment alone, wondering when my Prince Charming was going to come and sweep me off my feet when the phone rang unexpectedly. On the other end was my friend Katrina who asked me what I had been doing. When I said, "Not much," she asked if I expected the man of my dreams to come all the way to my three-story walk up and knock on my door. Before I had time to answer, she told me to get off my couch, get dressed, and meet her for a fashionable brunch.
After we ate, we decided to see a movie, so we jumped in a taxi and headed to the theater. When we got out of the taxi, Katrina crossed the street to get our tickets and as I followed her, I saw this incredible guy walking by. As I passed him I blurted out, "You’re cute!" and he actually heard me. I was mortified and I tried running away but he stopped me and we began to talk. I told him I was rushing to go see a movie so I gave him my cell phone number and we parted ways. When I checked my messages after the movie he had already called and asked me out on a date! I thought to myself, "There is love in Manhattan after all!" Loving To Be In Love While hiking on our Hawaiian adventure, I slipped crossing a stream and tore both of my hip flexors. Stewart spent the next nine months nursing me back to health. He did all the household chores, prepared meals for us, and helped me stay positive. I am a person who loves to exercise and I rely on my ability to walk for my profession, so it was a difficult time period for me. However, despite months of excruciating pain and rehabilitation, I overcame my injuries with Stewarts care. I think that being supportive and helping each other through hard times is what being a couple is all about. The Romantic Hike After a few minutes of silence, Stewart asked me to dance with him. I sang Stevie Wonder’s, "Ribbon in the Sky" as we danced on the peak of the mountain. Stewart told me that he adored me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life growing and learning with me. I told him that I looked forward to sharing my life with him, and we embraced before heading back to the car. We got really lost on our way back down the mountain, but we reassured each other that we would be all right and we finally made it to the car. Eight hours later we finally arrived back to the cabin. After a romantic dinner, Stewart poured some champagne and prepared a candlelit rose jacuzzi. It was then that he gave me a ring and asked me to be his wife. I was overwhelmed but I managed to exclaim "Yes!" through all my joyful tears. Later on, Stewart told me that he had wanted to propose while we were dancing on the mountain, but he was too afraid that he would lose the ring on the hike! Stewart makes me think about being the best person that I can be. We speak to each other in a kind and loving manner even when we are upset. We both love to hike, surf, and run together. The simplest walk in Central Park is a wonderful day! He is a laid back, logical thinker, and I am a bit of a firecracker, so we provide a fine balance for each other.
