A Moving, Personal Ceremony
Billy and I both work in finance. We were set up by a mutual friend. We all went out to dinner and Billy and I hit it off. We went on several dates after that and we’ve been together ever since.
Billy proposed around Christmas time. We were decorating our new tree. I was putting presents underneath it, where I saw a ring box. He got down on one knee and proposed right in front of the tree.
Tarrytown House Estate checked all our boxes. We were having a really big wedding so we needed a venue that could accommodate us. We also liked that they had rooms our guests could stay at, making our wedding weekend much easier for our out-of-town guests. We worked with Antonio Martinez, banquet planner. He was fantastic! He made everything so easy, and when I was stressed out about the seating chart, he took it over and laid everything out perfectly.
The ceremony was wonderful. The weather was absolutely perfect that day. We were married by a priest who taught me religion in high school and Billy was also his altar boy when he was younger. Everyone was laughing and crying through the ceremony.
The cocktail hour was held on the terrace. Our passed hors d’oeuvres included sliders, baby lamb chops, tuna tartare, and grilled cheese sandwiches. We also had an Italian station, a spaghetti bar, and so much more.
Walking into our ballroom for the first time was a surreal moment. Our centerpieces were tall branches with cherry blossoms surrounded by votive candles.
Dinner began with a ricotta cheese tortellini with heirloom tomatoes, wilted arugula, roasted garlic, and ricotta salata. This was followed by a the Tarrytown House Salad of field greens, poached pear, goat cheese, candied walnuts, cherry tomatoes, and a cabernet vinaigrette. For the entrée, guests chose between slow-roasted ribeye with fingerling potatoes, roasted half-chicken with roasted shallot whipped potatoes, or grilled salmon filet with citrus-scented Israeli couscous.
Dessert was a chocolate sampler with milk chocolate mousse, white chocolate Macadamia nut biscotti, raspberry sorbet with dark chocolate, and of course our wedding cake! As if that wasn’t enough dessert, since we both love candy and sweets, we had a candy bar with goody bags for everyone to help themselves.
Our band was fanastic, and thanks to them we needed a bigger dance floor because not one person was sitting the whole night!
Thank you to our family and friends for celebrating our wedding day with us. You hold a very special place in our hearts and we thank you for all your love and support. Thank you to Tarrytown House Estate and Antonio for making our day stress free and beautiful!
