An Extravagant Cocktail Hour
I’m a sales representative and Fabian is the vice president of a plumbing and heating supply company. We went to middle school together and met in sixth grade. Fabian always says that one day while I was walking into gym class, he turned to his friend and said, “Who’s that girl? Because I’m going to marry her one day!”
We never dated throughout middle school or high school but we remained the best of friends. My freshman year of college we remained very close and spoke all the time, and when I came home after the second semester had ended, he asked me out to dinner. We’ve been together ever since.
We dated seven years before we got engaged. He proposed to me at an intimate family dinner. I had been looking for unique wedding venues, and I was interested in a loft-type space, but I knew that comes with a lot of work. Then I found The Metropolitan Room, which had everything I was looking for, and no other place compared. After our visit, that same day we emailed them saying, “Hold our date.”
We worked with Artie Wassif, catering manager, and he was a pleasure to work with from the first day we walked into his office. He immediately treated us like family and went above and beyond every vision and dream we requested. Everything leading up to the day was worry free. We knew Artie had it all organized and handled. He was available any time and he accommodated every request we had. We needed Glatt kosher food for some of our guests and Artie knew everything about it. He even contacted them and was able to accommodate their food choice.
Our ceremony took place in The Metropolitan Room overlooking the city. We had a Jewish ceremony so we had a chuppah. It was a little different from your traditional floral chuppah, however, as we covered it with crystals and had candles hanging from it.
Our cocktail hour had every single option you could imagine. People are still talking about it! The raw bar and the sushi station were very popular. We had an ice sculpture with caviar and lobster crepes. The brisket at the carving station was incredible. People were saying it was the best they’d ever had.
The ballroom was amazing and more beautiful than I could have imagined. The whole room was lit by candles. Our florist did an incredible job with the centerpieces. Half the centerpieces were white hydrangea balls with crystals and the other half were made with branches and candles hanging off the branches. We also set up a lounge area in the ballroom with an extra bar.
Dinner began with a lobster salad. We also had a polenta course, and the main course was a stuffed chicken with roasted peppers and cheese, Chilean sea bass with a mango sauce, and a New York strip. It was very important to us that the food be spectacular.
We want to thank both of our parents who made our day possible and even more than we could have imagined. We also want to thank family and friends who shared our day, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us! You all made it unforgettable. A huge thank you to Artie and the staff for an incredible wedding day. We really cannot thank them enough!
