"Six years ago Peter was living in San Francisco and planned a trip to Las Vegas with a group of his friends from New Jersey. At the same time, needing a break from New York, my friends and I also decided on a vacation to Las Vegas. As luck would have it, Peter and I met while we were both floating in the pool at our hotel. We hit it off right away and spent the next five days together.
"Afterwards we both headed to Peter’s home in California to extend our vacation. Two weeks later, it was time for me to head back to New York, but I left my heart in San Francisco. After 10 months of coast-to-coast dating, Peter moved back home to New Jersey. "A few years later during a visit to our favorite vineyard in Napa Valley, Peter proposed. I said yes and the wedding planning began.
"My husband grew up in Union, New Jersey. His grandparents, parents, aunts, and sister were all married in St. Lucy’s church in Newark, New Jersey. The church is absolutely beautiful, so choosing the ceremony location was the easy part.
"Our cocktail hour had everything, including sushi chefs, a martini bar, carved lamb chops, a raw seafood station, and even an outside patio grill with succulent lobsters. There was so much food at the cocktail hour that many of our guests thought it was their dinner.
"After introductions and first dances, our guests were served a delicious breast of duck sitting atop a wild salad with l’orange dressing. The main course was a dual plate of tender chateaubriand and shrimp francaise with sides of sautéed escarole and skewered parmesan potatoes.
"As the reception was winding down, an elaborate Viennese display was there for all to enjoy. There was everything from a chocolate fountain to gelato and homemade cannolis. People are still raving about the homemade Oreo-filled zeppolis. "At the end of the Viennese hour, our guests enjoyed cigars, cordials, and more passed hors d’oeuvres in the adjoining library and patio.
