"Danny and I met at Eastport High School in 1998. Mutual friends of ours knew we liked each other so they set us up. We dated on and off for a long time. We couldn’t stand to be apart and didn’t want to be with anyone else. Danny had been working for my dad in our family business, a wholesale produce company, for as long as we were dating. So he became very close to my family.
"On March 21st of 2004 he called asking if I wanted to go to dinner at one of the restaurants on his route for work. He said the owners wanted him to come in and eat there. Both our families knew we were getting engaged, but I had no idea. We had been looking around for rings, but I didn’t think it would happen so soon. "As we were driving to the restaurant, Danny pulled into the Montauk Overlook, which sits atop the mountains. He told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him.
"We waited two and a half years before getting married. The first thing we did was book Oheka Castle. I had always wanted to get married there because of its breathtaking interior and elegant grounds.
"Gary and Kelly Melius, the owners of Oheka Castle, worked with us to create a beautiful ceremony and reception. We had hundreds of red roses and candles spread all over the castle. The ballroom ceiling was draped in gold satin fabric, and amber colored lights created a romantic ambiance.
"During our reception my parents surprised us with Judy Torres, one of our favorite freestyle singers. Kelly and Gary even accommodated our request to extend our menu with a risotto appetizer and extra entrees that included lobster tails, Chilean sea bass, filet mignon, and roasted veal chop.
"To end the evening, we had a cigar and cordial hour after the Venetian hour. During the cigar hour we had a full breakfast served in the smaller ballroom. Everything was a dream come true. The night couldn’t have been better. And it ended perfectly. Oheka Castle also has the most beautiful bridal suite!"
