Real Wedding: The Park Savoy

The Blind Date ... & The Summer Wedding

"Geoff and I met on a blind date and almost three years later we were engaged. One evening in November, after returning home from the gym, I was finishing a paper for graduate school. In an attempt to procrastinate, I called my mother.

"When I finally hung up, Geoff was pestering me to see if I had finished my paper. I told him I needed a few more minutes. Five minutes later, he asked me to come see what Snuffy, our cat, was doing. When I came out of the room, I saw Snuffy sitting at the top of the stairs wearing a top hat with a note that had a fake ring attached to it. I insisted it was a joke, so he led me into the bedroom, gave me the real ring, and asked me to marry him.

"We decided to have a summer wedding. The weekend after we were engaged we started looking at venues in the tri-state area. The Park Savoy was one of the last places we visited, and since Geoff was unable to be at that visit, I went with my parents.

"We loved the outdoor setting, warmth, and homey feeling of the venue and I returned with Geoff the next night. Coincidentally, a tasting was scheduled for that evening. A unique feature at The Park Savoy is their tasting for couples and two other guests. We enjoyed a sample cocktail hour accompanied by music and a full course meal in the ballroom! Before the night was over, we both knew we had found our place.

"After we had chosen our venue the rest was easy. We went with the majority of the vendor recommendations suggested by Alan Weinstein, the owner of the Park Savoy.

"We were able to get married outside, overlooking the Park Savoy’s stunning grounds and a nearby golf course. Our ceremony was followed by an indoor and outdoor cocktail hour, and a reception in the ballroom.

"The food was delicious, and the presentation was exquisite. The wide assortment of appetizers included baby rack of lamb, an Italian pasta station, a Mexican station with fajitas, and a margarita bar. Our dinner choices were filet mignon served with a gorgonzola sauce and caramelized shallots, roasted salmon with a soy and ginger sauce, and double-roasted chicken breast. Nothing could match our outrageous dessert table, which included Italian and French pastries, Belgian waffles and ice cream, and a chocolate fountain.

"Bill Chriswell, the maitre’d, and his staff, attended to every detail. Geoff and I continue to dream about our wedding day and relive it constantly. It was by far the most incredible and memorable night of our lives. People are still giving us compliments about how wonderful it was!"
