"As the night went on we discovered we had a lot in common. I was a single mom raising three kids and he was a single dad raising two teenage daughters. We had an amazing conversation, and when the evening ended Harry walked me to my car. Over the next few days we kept in touch, and with a little help from Artie he asked me out.
"During our short courtship it was obvious our attraction was more than physical. Our e-mails became letters of intentions, dreams, and future desires. He had a way with words, and I came to see he was simply unique.

"Six weeks into our relationship I had another meeting with Harry at The Newark Club. Upon my arrival, he took me into a private room where there was a table set for two. My jaw fell to the floor in amazement. As I sat down, Artie slipped a wedding contract under the door with both our names on it. With a smile Harry got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

"For our venue we didn’t even consider any place but The Newark Club. It’s where we met, where we got engaged, and it had to be our reception place. Harry knows all the vendors, which made everything so much easier. The knowledgeable professionals at The Newark Club made planning our wedding easy from the beginning.

"We got married in a non-denominational church underneath a chuppah. It took us about three weeks to build the chuppah, which symbolized the making of our home together. Family was the theme of our wedding day. We had our five children escort us down the aisle and give us away. A unity candle was lit not only by the bride and groom but also by our children.

"From the moment we arrived at The Newark Club on our wedding day, everything was topnotch. As our guests arrived they were greeted by our door host, Cookie, and a silver service wine and champagne bar.The cocktail hour consisted of stations throughout the room decorated with fresh flowers.
"The transition from the first floor cocktail hour to the 22nd floor ballroom was seamless. It was worth everything just to see the expression on everyone’s face as they walked into the room and saw the panoramic view. The Newark Club’s general manager, Greg Spinelli, took care of running the show since the managers, Harry and Artie Wassif, were the groom and best man for the evening!

"From the moment the music started and we had our first dance, and I looked into my husband’s eyes, I knew I was living my dream. The Newark Club is a private executive dining club renowned for their food and now I know why. Our first course, chicken, spinach, and ricotta cannelloni, was followed by Caesar salad. Dinner included a choice of either French cut chicken stuffed with proscuitto, spinach, and mozzarella cheese; potato crusted tilapia vin blanc or black angus shell steak with a cognac peppercorn sauce.

"The night was filled with food and activities. Our children even put on a salsa dance routine. After the ceremonial cake cutting, the dessert table opened. There were fruit crêpe’s, bananas foster, chocolate fondue, assorted pastries, and a build-your-own ice cream sundae bar. Thanks to everyone at The Newark Club, our fairy tale continues with each passing day."
