"Evan proposed around the time of our two-year anniversary. We were on our way to dinner, when he suggested walking through Central Park. When we reached the Boat Basin, Evan handed me a quarter and told me to close my eyes and make a wish. When I opened them, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him.

"We wanted a good old-fashioned New York City wedding. We both work with events as part of our careers and when it came to choosing the perfect place The Roosevelt Hotel was the only venue we had in mind. I had worked with them for several events and knew we could rely on them to make our wedding day perfect. The Roosevelt Hotel is beautiful and unassuming in its elegance. It also had enough rooms to accompany our out-of-town guests.

"Working with Richard Godfrey, the director of catering, we felt confident that he would give us a wonderful wedding day. Richard and the head chef at The Roosevelt helped us customize the dinner dishes. For example, we replaced the potato to be served with the meat with palm frittes and also served filet mignon in place of strip steak.

Jackie Brot & Evan Weinberg Ceremony & Reception: The Roosevelt Hotel The Roosevelt Hotel |
"Richard helped us create a “Midsummer's Nights” theme for our reception. Both our ceremony and reception were held in the Terrace Ballroom. Using the same space allowed us to be more creative and elaborate in our floral décor. Our florist constructed an archway of gorgeous purple wisteria at the head of the aisle and our chuppah was built entirely of intertwined flowers with hanging candles. Later, they used our elaborate chuppah as the framework for our cake. The presentation took our breath away.

"When you walked through the double doors, the ballroom looked like a beautiful floral garden. Our favorite aspect was the magnificent painted mural on the ceiling. Twinkling candles around the room created a starry night feel that overwhelmed us. The centerpieces were crystal candelabras with pink and purple hydrangeas, pink and red roses, and yellow and orange lilies. We are a dancing crowd, so the most important thing at the reception was the music.

"The Roosevelt Hotel’s Terrace Ballroom has a great big dance floor. Our band did a great job keeping the dance floor packed all evening. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they had. The next morning we had a beautiful brunch at the hotel.

"Our wedding day was literally flawless. If there were any problems, Evan and I weren’t aware of them. Richard and his staff took care of every detail, right down to touching up tiny little spots on the walls. No glass was ever left empty and napkins were always refolded when guests got up from their seats. We feel so fortunate. Richard understood our vision for the day and gave us the wedding of our dreams."
