Real Wedding: The Harold Pratt House

Romance in Latin (Class)

"Everything fell into place as soon as we walked into the Harold Pratt House, home of the Council on Foreign Relations. Here we began and ended our search for a wedding venue one October day just after our engagement.

"Six years earlier Ben and I had met as graduate students in the Department of Classics at Columbia University taking Latin classes, sharing lunches and starting a friendship that grew from us to our families and finally into an engagement after Ben asked my father’s permission to marry me.

"From that point we began to craft the first evening we would spend with our friends and family as a married couple.

"The whole evening was kept aloft by Valerie Brazill, director of special events for the Council on Foreign Relations, and her associate, Kate Boyle.

"Feast and Fêtes of Restaurant Daniel served us four courses of autumn delight that set a tone of classic splendor, made richer still by flowers, candles and linens realized perfectly through the vision of Priscilla Schaefer at Glorimundi; and all this is kept fresh in our memories by the photography of Andrea Sperling.

"Our reception ended as our ceremony began with music tailored to our every wish by Bill Kinslow of the Park Swing Orchestra."
