"Our cakes are a combination of Italian baking and classic American styles," says Adeline Lepore of Ferrara Bakery & Café, a family-run business that's been making cakes for over 100 years.

"They're classy, simple, and not too outrageous."

Every cake Ferrara prepares has 2 layers of cream and 3 layers of cake. You can choose from among 16 flavors, including raspberry mousse and their famously popular canoli cream. On the outside you can choose butter cream, whipped cream ("it’s the best you'll ever taste!"), or rolled fondant and poured icing.

"What really sets us apart is our unique preparation," says Adeline. "Instead of cake, we use Italian-style spounge which is extremely porous and delicious.

"Every cake also is moistened with an appropriate punch or flavor, which makes the mouth water."
