You might include a golf outing, a day at the spa, or even a lakeside barbecue for an original rehearsal dinner surrounded by nature’s beauty. "Rather than saying your goodbye’s at the end of the reception, have a post-wedding brunch," says Jennifer. "It’s especially nice if friends and family have travelled a long distance to be with you. Spending more time with them lets them know you’re thankful for their presence and support."
For an elegant personal touch, customized ice carvings are still a time-tested favorite. "They can tie into your theme, or reflect a special interest or emotion," says Jennifer. "One couple had a fantastic carving of a Ferrari hood ornament, complemented by small red Ferrari’s with the table numbers printed on them. They even had a special parking section for guests who drove their Ferrari’s to the wedding."
No matter how well you plan, there are always some things out of your control. "Always plan for rain," says Jernnifer. "Be pleasantly thrilled and surprised when the sun is shining."
When hiring professionals, she recommends you book them as soon as your reception location is confirmed. "Don’t be afraid to ask them to tailor their wedding packages to your needs and wishes," says Jennifer. "Also, have contracts and revisions written up for everything, and be sure to double check rates and times."
Finally, if you’re planning on giving your centerpieces to special guests when all is over, Jennifer suggests checking with your florist to make sure the vases are purchased, not rented. "Take extra time to prevent problematic situations by double-checking, asking questions, and reading the fine print. That way you can keep your mind on family, friends, and, most importantly, the love of your life."
