Mix and Match Looks in a Garden Setting

“The nature of beauty is one of the most fascinating riddles of philosophy. Everyone from Plato to Aristotle has an opinion about it,” says Andrea Beckerich, of Hair by Andrea : Mobile, and the makeup artist and hair stylist for our model Elizabeth. “I tend to embrace the old adage, ‘Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.’ There truly is no formula or definition.”

Best in Faux

“I wanted to play off Elizabeth’s Art Deco-style dress, so I decided to give her a faux bob. I started by using a 1 1/2 inch curling iron all over her hair for a soft, flowing look. Then I pinned sections under one at a time, molding the bob with bobby pins. Once I got the shape I wanted, I added some texture and hold with dry shampoo and hair spray.”

Andrea's Bridal Beauty Tips

Do a trial run ... “On your wedding day, there is little time for change, so make sure you do a trial run with your beauty artist a few months beforehand. It’s also a good opportunity to see if your personalities mesh.”

Wear waterproof mascara ... “Chances are you might cry during your ceremony, first look, or reception, so make sure your makeup artist uses waterproof mascara.”

Stay true to you ... “You want to look beautiful, but you also want to look like you. Play up your best features and don’t stray too far from your natural look!”

Mix and Match Looks

“Don’t be afraid to contrast your look with your dress. I wanted to loosen up Elizabeth’s classic, elegant dress, so I created a messy updo by loosely pinning up curls while leaving a few strands in the front to frame her face. With messy looks, always make sure to smooth any flyaways to add some organization to the chaos. To complement the intensity, I added a smoky eye with false lashes, as well as a bolder red lip.”

"Going to Great Lengths" look by Hair by Andrea

Going to Great Lengths

“Even if you have long hair, don’t be afraid to use extensions! Elizabeth’s hair is naturally long, but I still clipped in a full set of extensions so her side bun would look much fuller. The extra hair can dramatically change the way your style looks. One quick tip: dirty hair is the secret to a long-lasting updo!”
