Incredible Array of Food
Christopher and I met while working at the Fairfield Theatre Company. We were friends for about a year before we started dating. Because of our shared love for music, our first date was a Mumford and Sons concert. After three and a half years of dating, Christopher took me on a vacation to Tulum, Mexico. Before that, Christopher had gotten a beautiful diamond my dad had given my mom and had it reset. My father passed away when I was young and our vacation happened to fall on the anniversary of my father’s death. He proposed on the day my father had passed, turning what is usually a sad day into a happy day!
After a long day of venue shopping, Glen Island Harbour Club was the last stop. As soon as we met Rocco Agostino, general manager, we knew this was it. He spoke to us like we had known him for years. Rocco listened to every question or idea I had, showing he genuinely cared about making our day everything we wanted. My mom is a wedding planner based in Westchester, and the two of them have worked together many times in the past. They work incredibly well together.
We were married in the church that I attended while growing up. Our florist, Joseph, decorated the church beautifully, with candles and white flowers everywhere. My mom surprised me with a trapeze artist pouring champagne when guests entered the cocktail hour at Glen Island! Gold, bronze, and rose balloons lined the ceiling and there was an incredible array of food. The fan-favorite among our guests was the American station, with favorites like shepherd’s pie and fried pickles. Christopher loves craft beer, so the Glen Island staff helped us customize a craft beer station that he absolutely loved!
Our ballroom had an elegant, rustic ambiance and our color scheme was gold and white with navy accents. I especially loved the addition of tea lights on the ceiling above the dance floor! Each table had low gold bowls filled with white flowers and greenery. We ordered reversible linens so we could have alternating white and gold tables. As a special tribute to my father and grandmother, we also incorporated rosemary into the place setting, which symbolizes remembrance.
For dinner, we offered an option of braised beef short-rib, chicken sorrentino in a tomato beurre blanc, or mirin sesame-glazed filet of salmon. Everything was so delicious, but we heard especially great things about the short rib! Later on, we had a dessert and cordial bar which included everything from dessert shots, a waffle station, a root beer float station, and more.
We got so many compliments on our amazing band and our DJ. They both made the night so much fun, with our guests dancing all night long. Several people who attended asked me for their contact information to book them for their own upcoming events!
Thank you to our family for helping us plan the wedding of our dreams, with a special shout out to my mom for all her hard work and helpful advice. Thank you to all our vendors for their talent and professionalism and to Rocco and the staff at Glen Island for making our day perfect. Lastly, thank you to our friends and family for celebrating this day with us.
