Lavish Ballroom

John Paul and I were both in the bridal party for our friends’ destination wedding in Mexico. We spent the weekend getting to know each other. When we got back to New York, we went on our first date to a local restaurant. I am a radiologic technologist and John Paul works in finance.

After almost two years of dating, John Paul planned a dream vacation for us in Paris and Monaco. On our first day, we explored the romantic city of Paris and headed to the Eiffel Tower at sunset. In front of the tower, John Paul got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

We fell in love with The Rockleigh as soon as we pulled up. Not only is The Rockleigh located on Paris Avenue, but the beautiful décor in the foyer reminded us of a room from Versailles! Bari Puli, event manager, greeted us warmly and took us on a tour of the property. We loved the incredible manicured gardens, the breathtaking fountain and columns for outdoor ceremonies, and the lavish ballroom with sparkling crystal chandeliers and windows that look out to the fountain. Bari and Cheryl Konstandt, office manager, helped us throughout the entire wedding process. They were both always available to answer all our questions and discuss creative ideas. On our wedding day, Nick Santorelli, the maître d’, did everything he could to ensure everything was perfect.

Minutes before the ceremony, it started to rain, so guests had to go inside. Knowing I wanted an outdoor ceremony, the staff waited for the clouds to pass and then quickly dried every chair for my dream ceremony! On the grounds in front of the fountain, a cellist and pianist played as John Paul and I exchanged vows under a four-post canopy covered in fresh flowers.

The raw bar at our cocktail hour was decorated with cherry blossoms and an ice sculpture in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. For our signature drink, we had rose gold raspberry-flavored champagne, which matched my bridesmaids’ gowns. Butlers passed hors d’oeuvres such as cumin coconut chicken and Boursin cheese polenta cakes. We also had several food stations; our favorite was the Cajun station with fried oysters and short ribs.

My florist and the Rockleigh staff turned my ballroom into a dream come true. Our sky-high centerpieces were extravagant candelabras topped with white orchids. I loved our mirrored sweetheart table, which was decorated with 100 white orchids and crystal candle holders. The first course was herb-dusted lamb chops and an intermezzo of sorbet lollipops. Then guests chose from filet mignon in madeira wine reduction, miso-glazed salmon, or chicken scaloppini in marsala wine demi-glace for their main entrée. Everything was delicious.

Our DJ, Danny, kept our guests dancing all night. We also loved the live saxophone player who played along to all the songs! Our guests loved the open-air photo booth with props. The big hit of the night was the giant LED robot dancing on stilts, courtesy of our DJ! Our Viennese hour was out of this world. Outside, our guests enjoyed hand-rolled cigars and cordials by the fountain. Inside, there was our five-tier wedding cake and tons of desserts including a fondue fountain and fresh baked cinnamon rolls.

John Paul and I had the most incredible day of our lives! Bari, Cheryl, Nick, and the staff at the Rockleigh stopped at nothing to make sure that happened. I could never describe the gratitude we have for their execution and delivery from the months leading up to, and especially on, the day of. All our vendors were incredibly talented and helpful. Thank you to our parents, friends, and family for sharing in the most special day of our lives.
