Tom and I met at a mutual friend’s theme party, based on the movie “Hot Tub Time Machine.” We hit it off right away and exchanged numbers. A few years later, Tom and I took a cruise to the Bahamas. During an excursion in Atlantis, we climbed a scenic overlook on the beach. When we reached the top, I turned around to find Tom down on one knee. He asked me to be his wife, and of course, I said yes!
Due to our hectic work schedules (I am a special education teacher and Tom is a pipeline operator), we booked appointments with my family at six venues in one day! Upon arriving at our sixth and final venue, The Brownstone, we fell in love with the elegant ambiance and the friendly staff. The Brownstone stood out among the rest and it was an easy choice for us. Throughout the planning process, The Brownstone was so helpful. They answered all our questions and even coordinated the staff to create handmade centerpieces for us!
Our ceremony took place in the beautiful glass Observatory Room. Tom’s best friend, Mackers, became ordained and performed the entire ceremony for us. After the ceremony, along with all our guests, we proceeded to The Red Room for cocktail hour. Our guests loved wandering through the different rooms and outdoor patios while enjoying the delicious appetizers. We had passed hors d’oeuvres such as Maryland crab cakes and jumbo shrimp cocktail as well as several food stations including a pasta station with various sauces, a carving station with striped bass and pork loin, and a fresh mozzarella station.
After cocktail hour, we headed straight to the grand ballroom for our reception. To highlight the beautiful setting of The Brownstone’s ballroom, we kept our décor simple. We made our centerpieces ourselves, using glass vases, white flowers, and floating candles. The staff was very attentive throughout. Mina even brought us damp rags to cool us off after being on the dance floor! Our DJ played a fantastic set of music, which kept our guests dancing the entire night.
Dinner was delicious. We started with a garden salad and a penne alla vodka dish. Then guests had a choice of roast prime rib of beef, chicken francaise, or Florida red snapper. For dessert, we offered our chocolate fudge wedding cake as well as mini pastries and cookies. The Brownstone boxed up each guest’s leftovers to be brought home and enjoyed the next day.
Thank you to all our guests, and especially our parents and our dedicated bridal party for going above and beyond for us to make our wedding so special. Thank you to all our vendors and to The Brownstone staff for making our day absolutely perfect.
