"All World Class"
Alexandra: Michael and I started dating when we were 16. We met sophomore year of high school in our TV production class. We were friends for the year, and started dating in our junior year.
Michael: We dated for upwards of nine years before getting engaged. We went through a lot together, college at separate schools and law school. Once I finished law school, I proposed. It was only a matter of time. We always knew we would spend our lives together.
Alexandra: We always wanted to get married at Nanina’s in the Park. My parents got married there 29 years ago and my cousin was also married there. We love Nanina’s. It holds a special place in my family’s heart, and also, the food is unbelievable! Our guests didn’t know wedding food could be so good.
Michael: Everything Nanina’s team does seems like it must be their specialty, because they’re so good at everything. The seafood, steaks, service, it’s all world class. The vendor list they provided for us had nothing but the best on it.
Alexandra: The Maurillo’s are wonderful people, they treat you like family. Everyone was so easy to work with. Vicky Iandoli, our maître d’, was the main person we worked with and she was so easygoing. She didn’t just give us her email, she gave us her personal cell phone and would often check in with us. Any questions we had were answered in seconds, I was free to text Natalia Maurillo, event and media director, about anything I needed.
Michael: We were married at our family church, where we both made all our sacraments. In fact, we were baptized only a day apart and made our first communion together. We didn’t know it at the time, but we’ve always lived our lives in a parallel way.
Alexandra: When we got to Nanina’s in the Park for cocktail hour, our guests were blown away. As they walked in, there was champagne waiting for them, so there was no bottleneck at the bar. We had so much food, and Nanina’s was kind enough to bring up a platter so we could try everything. We loved the sushi, the homemade mozzarella, the martini bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, everything!
Michael: We loved the setup of the ballroom. There is an indoor balcony, which allowed for different settings throughout. Our friends could dance all night, while some of our other guests could watch from above and feel part of the party, but be able to talk to each other and enjoy their drinks.
Alexandra: The ballroom is beautiful and our florist used the room to make an explosion of flowers. There were flowers lining the staircases, the balcony railings were covered, everywhere you looked there were flowers. You could smell them the moment you walked into the room. It felt like a fairy tale. Dinner was perfect, served in a timely manner and presented beautifully. We selected a duo of shrimp Nanina and chateaubriand, chicken française, and eggplant parmesan as our entrée options.
Michael: We had The Infernos as our band and they are truly incredible. They got everyone up and dancing. They are the house band at Nanina’s and they are a whole experience. The ambiance in the room was incredible love and fun.
Alexandra: For our after-party, we got to stay in the ballroom at Nanina’s and just continue the party. A DJ from The Infernos came in and we were there until 1:30 in the morning. They opened up a cigar bar and a whiskey bar on the patio and on the way out we had a diner-themed cart with mini milkshakes, fries, chicken wings, and ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches. Nanina’s team went above and beyond for us.
Michael & Alexandra: We thank our parents who are absolutely fantastic. They were such a resource in what can be overwhelming. The whole experience was pure love and we couldn’t have done it without them. We thank the Maurillo’s, who listened to what we wanted and took care of every detail. Our wedding was perfect from top to bottom. It’s a testament to Nanina’s in the Park and all our vendors. We had the best night of our lives!
