At a barbecue with mutual friends on Memorial Day Weekend, Daniel introduced himself to me and we immediately hit it off. I work for an insurance company and Daniel is a substation supervisor at an electric company. Seven years later, in our home watching a Rangers hockey game together, Daniel got down on one knee and proposed!
I could not see myself getting married anywhere other than The Rockleigh. Its lush gardens, unique fountains, and elegant ballroom are all so beautiful and incomparable. It was wonderful working with Rockni Ghorishi, the general manager, and Zara Khayatian, the event manager, to book and plan our wedding. They were both always so helpful and responsive.
Our ceremony was in the Bristol Room. We had a personalized aisle runner with our monogram embroidered on it and various ivory and champagne flowers at the front of the room. Our ceremony included a very special flower joining, where my two sisters and Daniel’s sister put different colored roses in a vase to represent both our families coming together as one.
Cocktail hour had a simple elegant décor with white flowers throughout the room. We had all types of food, including stations with Chinese, Mexican, and Mediterranean cuisines. Our guests loved the large ice luge serving shots of premium liquors.
Our ballroom had a classic, romantic ambiance with blue and purple uplighting. Televisions at either end of the room displayed a slide show of us throughout the years. The candlelit tables were decorated with handmade glittered gold table numbers and tall centerpieces of ivory and champagne roses, white hydrangeas, and white snap dragons. Around the base of each centerpiece were votive candles and rose petals.
Dinner began with a grilled vegetable salad and for the main course, guests had a choice of filet mignon in a madeira wine, red snapper with olive tapenade, or roasted chicken breast with exotic mushrooms. Dessert was a chocolate lava cake served with raspberry coulis and wild berry sorbet. Everything from cocktail hour to dessert was delicious.
Our DJ, Vito, is a good friend of ours and we trusted him to play music that would make for a great party. He had everyone dancing the night away with a mix of music from Billy Joel to 90’s hits. At the end of the night, we served snacks like soft pretzels and churros and gave the favors I made, which were sets of coasters with lace.
Thank you to our family and friends for their love and support on our big day. Thank you to Rockni, Zara, and the Rockleigh staff for being there for us the whole night and making sure it was amazing!
