Warm & Inviting
Kevin and I met while vacationing in Bermuda and have been together ever since. I am a holistic skincare therapist and Kevin is a maritime terminal operations planner. Over several years of dating, we loved exploring NYC and traveling together. On one of our trips to the Whitney Museum of American Art in the West Village, Kevin proposed on the observation deck that overlooks lower Manhattan.
When you enter The Bernards Inn, it has the dignified style and warm sophistication of an English Manor home. Andrea Testa, wedding coordinator, is an industry veteran. She customized every single detail of our wedding to keep our unique personalities in all elements of the day.
Our ceremony was held in a beautiful church built in the 1800’s, complete with gothic architecture of the medieval fourteenth century. Then we rode in a vintage black and silver Rolls Royce Wraith to The Bernards Inn. It was important to us to appreciate a quiet moment before enjoying our reception celebration.
Our healthy mostly plant-based menu was created by Chef Corey Heyer, the executive chef, and his culinary team, using locally grown ingredients. Our butler-passed hors d’oeuvres included baked asparagus puffs, mini onion soup boules, tomato and zucchini tarts, and more. For our food stations, we had an international and domestic cheese display, garden crudités table with gourmet dips, a Mediterranean station with traditional Spanish paella, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh salad, and more. Everything was fresh, seasonally inspired, and delicious.
As a tribute to our honeymoon in Bali, our ballroom had a theme of lush, tropical romance. Our florist, Mike, created tall centerpieces filled with tropical greenery, white orchids, white tulips, succulents, and moss. Twinkling candles were strung across the ceiling to add a breathtaking ethereal glow to the room. Our band had unbelievable energy. They played old-school Motown classics, which gave a happy nostalgic feeling. For their grand finale, we had a confetti blast over the dance floor.
Dinner started with an appetizer of lobster bisque. For the main course, guests had an option of Chilean sea bass, sesame and pea trendil salad, or filet mignon and lobster tail. Josip Franc, The Bernards Inn executive pastry chef, designed a magnificent white wedding cake infused with champagne.
Thank you to our family and friends for traveling from every distance to celebrate our wedding all weekend long. A special thank you to our florist Mike and all our vendors and to Andrea and The Bernards Inn for helping us create an unforgettable dream wedding, full of imagination and detail.
