Fairy Tale Wedding
Sal and I grew up in the same town, but our paths never crossed. I am a banker and he works in telecommunications. We finally met on a trip with mutual friends to Indian Rocks Beach in Florida. That beach became an annual vacation spot for us. On one trip, Sal got down on one knee in shallow water and asked me to spend the rest of his life with him!
From the ballrooms to the staircase, guest rooms, and grounds, everything about Oheka Castle is truly a fairy tale setting. It was our first and only choice for a venue. Any woman will feel like a princess in a castle on her wedding day at Oheka. Sal worked there when he was in high school and always wished to get married at Oheka too.
The planning process was very easy with Gary Melius, the owner, Kelly Melius, the director of sales, and John DiPreta, the banquet manager. John offered amazing ideas and helped us plan the whole day with a precise timeline. Darleen Hendricks, my bridal attendant, and Max Louis-Jean, Sal’s groom attendant, anticipated our every need, allowing us to thoroughly enjoy the experience and not worry about a thing.
The night before our wedding, Sal and I spent the night in separate suites at Oheka with our bridal party. The morning of our wedding, we had breakfast and champagne in the suites, got ready, and took photos. Then a party bus took us all to the church!
We had a traditional Catholic ceremony, dedicated to our grandfathers. Our wedding date was on the anniversary of the passing of Sal’s grandfather, who he is named after. I also lost my grandfather a few weeks before the wedding and we had the mass given in his name. The talented music coordinator, vocalist, and musicians all tied everything together beautifully.
Our cocktail hour had everything we could possibly want! We had two carving stations, a pasta station, an Asian station, a seafood station, a risotto station, a Caribbean station, and more! We also had several butlered hors d’oeuvres such as baby lamb chops, smoked salmon canapés, and sesame chicken fritters.
The ballroom had rose gold lighting with an intricate lace pattern shown on the ceiling. Our color scheme was navy blue with accents of soft blush and ivory and we had alternating high and low centerpieces.
For dinner, guests chose filet mignon, chicken breast stuffed with spinach and pignoli nuts, or Chilean sea bass. Our guests were so impressed by the delicious food and exceptional service!
We had the non-stop dance party we always wanted. Our MC did a great job introducing our family and bridal party and our DJ played all our favorite music. We also had an incredible percussionist!
Our heartfelt thanks to Gary, Kelly, John, Darleen, and Max at Oheka for giving us the wedding of our dreams. Thank you to all our vendors, especially our florist, DJ, and photographer, for truly understanding our vision. Thanks to our friends and family for celebrating with us!
