Sleek & Modern
Ravi and I met in high school during the fall of our senior year. Even though we were hanging out all the time, we were hesitant to start officially dating because we were going to college the following year. We ended up staying in New York and went to college at different schools, and although it was hard, we stayed strong and made it work.
Over the next nine years, we made our careers our main focus. Now, I am a senior packaging designer at one of the world’s leading beauty companies and Ravi is an attorney at an international law firm. On our romantic vacation to Paris, Ravi took me to the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens. When we got to the Luxembourg Palace, he got down on one knee, asked me to marry him, and a photographer captured it all!
A few weeks after getting engaged, Ravi went to Virginia to clerk for a federal judge. I knew early on that I wanted a venue that had the space for all our events, on-site accommodations, and a helpful staff to make everything easier. Hotel Eventi was in a convenient location and I loved the modern design of the venue. Lisa Benoit, catering sales manager, was a pleasure to work with and made everything so easy. She even gave me her personal cell phone to call her whenever I needed. I am very meticulous about details and she helped execute every idea to perfection.
Our band played a beautiful acoustic version of “Fall For You” by Second Hand Serenade for our walk down the aisle in Eventi’s indoor ceremony space. Our cocktail hour was outside on the terrace, which had a beautiful view of the city and the Empire State Building. The décor was simple and elegant, with lit lanterns and tea lights. Butlers passed unique hors d’oeuvres including pork belly and kimchi arancini, grilled short ribs skewers, summer rolls, and more.
We gave the ballroom a modern, romantic ambience. Each table had a set of low centerpieces, one large one surrounded by high candles and three mini arrangements, all filled with white, gold, and blush pink flowers. On Eventi’s outdoor big screen, we displayed our favorite old photos plus our engagement photos. Everyone loved our sleek photo booth, which gave guests a printout, an email, and a live-action GIF of the photos. We had a band and a DJ for a real party vibe. Our band played 90’s throwback music and our DJ played contemporary songs. The two of them working together set the mood for a night full of dancing.
The first course for dinner was grilled paneer in fenugreek sauce. For the main course, guests could choose from rib-eye steak in gorgonzola butter or seared black seabass in a sherry-vinegar gastrique. Eventi’s chef is fantastic and created every dish to perfection. For dessert, we had our Sylvia Weinstock yellow-butter wedding cake with pistachio, apricot, and blood orange filling.
Thank you to our parents, family, and friends, for enjoying our special day with us. Thank you to all our vendors, and to Lisa and the Eventi staff for making this day all possible.
