When my family and I moved to Staten Island, we would regularly go to this local deli down the block, which Mario’s family has owned since the 1950’s. Mario worked the register and would always strike up a conversation with me. Eventually, I invited him over to meet my family. One of our first dates was his cousin’s wedding, where I met his entire family. From then on, I knew he was the one. Now I am a fourth grade teacher and he is a registered nurse.
After about three and a half years of dating, Mario and I went on a cruise together. He hid my engagement ring in his suitcase and proposed to me on the grand staircase of the cruise ship! He also coordinated with a photographer to take pictures of us during the whole vacation.
Once we got home, we started planning right away. We were going to be early for one of our venue appointments, so we decided to stop by The Park Savoy. As soon as we left, we looked at each other and knew this is was the place we were going to get married. We loved the elegant ballroom with its beautiful view of the golf course. Everything about The Park Savoy was magical and every staff member was so professional. Sam Tillawi, the general manager, and Melanie Clarke, sales manager, were so helpful from day one, answering all our daily emails and questions promptly.
We were married by our priest, Father Joy, at my family’s parish and then headed to The Park Savoy. We had a spectacular variety of options at our cocktail hour. We had passed appetizers like rack of lamb, hickory grilled pizza, roasted eggplant cannelloni, and more. We also had several captain stations such as a mac and cheese bar, a fresh mozzarella display, the boardwalk station, and more. Everything was phenomenal.
Our florist helped make the already beautiful ballroom even more beautiful and unique with large floral arrangements on every table. Our centerpieces consisted of pink and white garden roses, pink and white hydrangeas, and gyp tango. We also hand made some of our décor, such as personalized lanterns and a large mailbox gift basket.
I have never seen Mario dance like he did on our wedding night! Our DJ was excellent. Mario and I were out on the dance floor with our guests from the time the reception started until it ended.
Dinner was mouth-watering and delicious. We began with The Park Savoy signature salad and then offered main course options of Chilean sea bass in soy ginger glaze, chateaubriand in cabernet sauce, chicken Sorrentino, or roasted vegetable strudel.
Thank you to our parents, family, and bridal party for all their support. Thank you to our fantastic vendors for making the day so special, especially to our photographers for their long hours spent with us and countless photo shoots. Thank you to Father Joy for guiding us properly in our Catholic faith. Thank you to Sam, Melanie, and everyone at The Park Savoy for all their help and everything they did for us. Our wedding day was everything we could have ever dreamed of!
