Indoor & Outdoor Cocktail Hour
Tom and I met through a mutual friend. We would lose touch and reconnect every few months, but started dating after running into each other at our favorite place, Djais, at the Jersey Shore. Djais is the place where Tom asked me to be his girlfriend and where he first told me he loved me. I am now a preschool special needs teacher and he is a physical education teacher.
A year later during Christmastime, Tom and I threw a house warming party at the home we just bought together. We asked everyone to bring an ornament for our Christmas tree. About an hour into the party, Tom turned on the song “Marry You” by Bruno Mars and took me to the middle of our living room to dance. Then he pulled out an ornament from behind the tree, and when I opened it, there was a ring inside! Tom got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of all our closest friends. As a special bonus to this already perfect Christmas engagement, Tom also adopted our two kittens, Romo and Dez! Can you tell we’re Cowboys fans?
Nothing compared to how we felt when we walked into il Tulipano. Everything from the outside gardens to the cocktail room and the reception hall, was absolutely perfect. The staff was also so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We worked closely with Chris Ryter, banquet catering manager, who made the experience nothing short of amazing. He answered every question we had and helped us every step of the way. He made our wedding day as smooth as it could possibly be.
We had an outdoor ceremony and we were married by our best friend. Cocktail hour was held both indoors in the cocktail room and outside on the patio. Our friends and family still talk about the endless amounts of food. We had several butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, including pigs in a blanket, baby lamb chops, tomato bruschetta, and more. We also had several food stations including a sautée station with shrimp scampi and scallops Provencal, a salmon and mozzarella display, a Peking duck station, and more. Our favorite was the elaborate sushi tower!
At the entrance to our reception, we had a Cowboys Jersey for our guests to sign. Our décor incorporated peach, yellow, and ivory flowers to match the flowers our bridesmaids had. Our tables had tall high-low cylinders filled with water, flowers, and floating candles. Each centerpiece was surrounded by peach flower petals and tea light candles. All our signs were made on chalkboard, including our seating cards and menus. Our DJ kept people of all ages on their feet all night. He also set up a photo booth and had a candid photographer walk around to take pictures, which were streamed on the TV set up near his DJ booth.
Dinner began with the il Tulipano signature salad with homemade wine vinegar dressing and an intermezzo of lemon sorbetto. For the entrée, guests could choose tilapia vino blanco, prime shell steak with frizzled onions, or chicken marghertia. We also had a grilled cheese option for children. We surprised both our fathers and Tom’s best man with a special entrée option of filet mignon in Barolo wine sauce. For dessert, we had our chocolate and vanilla wedding cake. Everything was delicious.
From start to finish, we could not have asked for a more perfect day. Thank you to all our incredible vendors for their talent and excellence and to Chris and everyone at il Tulipano for making our day a fairy tale. Thank you to our friends and family for their love and support.
