A NYC Lounge Feel
Dave and I dated in high school but we broke up for a couple of years while I was in college, which gave us a chance to find ourselves and be young and free. Dave always told one of our mutual friends that he would get me back. I became a teacher and Dave is a police officer. A few years later, we decided to try things out again, and since then we’ve been truly happy together.
One Valentine’s Day, Dave took me out to dinner at Patria. Just before we were about to go into our house, Dave started shaking and talking about our future together. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Then I was the one shaking and crying tears of happiness!
In choosing a venue, I always knew I needed something different that really represented us. I looked at only two places, and as soon as we walked into The Metropolitan Room, we knew it was where we would get married! We fell in love with the amazing views and the chic New York City lounge feeling. Talking with Harry Prott, the general manager, felt like talking to family, and he was a dream to work with. I called him with changes to the menu, layout, and number of guests and he was always happy to help! On the day of the wedding, Harry and his staff made sure we had everything we needed and more.
Our ceremony was at the church I have been going to my whole life. It’s where my parents and many of my aunts and uncles were married. It was a short but beautiful ceremony surrounded by our closest friends and family members.
For our cocktail hour, we had stations and passed hors d’oeuvres, including manchego and prosciutto croquettes, coconut shrimp, and Maryland jumbo crab cakes with roasted pepper aioli.
Our ballroom décor was black and ivory with pops of pink flowers to add some color. We had a cocktail style reception so we could have more time for dancing. We started with a mixed green salad, followed by a choice of stations, including two carving stations, a seafood station, a crêpe station with wild mushroom crêpes and fondue cheese, and two pasta stations! For dessert we had a Viennese table, as well as our wedding cake and a homemade ice cream bar, perfect for a hot summer night. The staff kept our guests happy with a full drink in their hands while our DJ kept the dance floor packed. It was amazing to see family and friends of all ages dancing!
We are filled with nothing but happiness when we think about our wedding day. We are so grateful for our friends and family, and for Harry and the staff for making all of that possible! I really could not imagine getting married anywhere else!
