In St. Lucia

We just returned from our St. Lucian honeymoon and we are overwhelmed by the hospitality that was shown to us! The accommodations, food, and amenities were outstanding! We could not have asked for a more perfect honeymoon!

Thanks to Manhattan Bride magazine and the Bay Gardens Resort, my husband Paul and I had the honeymoon of our dreams. As we arrived on the breathtaking island of St Lucia, we were greeted at the airport by our friendly driver, Gary, who took us to the resort in a Porsche! The drive itself was lovely and informative, as he made sure to point out all the local sites and attractions along the way.

Upon reaching the resort, we were welcomed by the warm and pleasant staff. We must have had by far the best suite in the resort, with its direct ocean view on one side and the pool on the other. The room was decorated with fragrant flower petals delicately scattered about and we were delighted to find the fridge stocked with a tray of chocolate covered tropical fruits!

On our first evening we explored the resort, strolling to the nearby shopping plaza, and of course dining at the Hi-Tide, one of the resort’s two fabulous restaurants. My husband and I are both vegetarians, and we were treated with a large and absolutely delectable array of meal options! Even now, we find ourselves craving their delicious veggie lasagna and apple tarts! Not to mention their extravagant breakfast buffets!

One of the highlights of our trip was our land and sea excursion, where we had the opportunity to use pure volcanic sulfur mud and bathe in natural mineral springs. How often does one get to take a bath in the middle of a volcano!

St. Lucia

Following our all-natural “spa” treatment, we had the pleasure of having lunch at Ladera, a famous resort with its renowned mountaintop restaurant. It certainly was the most breathtaking view we had ever seen. Situated directly between the massive peaks of the Piton mountains, and lush plantations leading to the Caribbean Sea, we could understand why it was widely referred to as a “million dollar view.”

Over the course of the week, we were truly pampered beyond our expectations and received such treatments as a relaxing deep tissue couple’s massage and a sunset cruise, where we had the chance to sail aboard a real pirate ship while grooving to the sounds of an authentic steel drum band.

Our last night on the island was truly memorable, as the staff gave us the ultimate star treatment. The sun was still setting in the horizon when we were led to an elegantly decorated table which had been set up right on the beach. We then enjoyed a gourmet five-course candlelit dinner right there on the beach! We were even greeted by the chef himself, who came out to ensure that everything was to our liking!

Overall this was truly a magical experience, one we will cherish and remember for the rest of our lives.
