“Incredibly Classy”

We met our first day of freshman year at Johns Hopkins. Through bonding over beer pong, late night Subway runs, video games, and countless other activities, we quickly became best friends and remained so all the way to senior year. It wasn't until then that we realized we wanted to be more than friends. We’d been through so much together and knew almost everything about one another. We went on our first date to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. and a few weeks later, we decided to be an official couple!

After graduation, I got a job in Harrisonburg, Virginia while Patrick started work in Clifton, New Jersey. Luckily, Patrick was happy to make the long drive every few weeks to visit me. Two years later, I found an incredible job opportunity that would land me near Patrick, so we got our first apartment together!

After spending some time living together, Patrick knew it was time to take the next step and propose. He managed to lure me to Brooklyn. While “waiting for friends” under the Brooklyn Bridge, Patrick pointed in the distance, claiming he saw them coming. I turned around to look and didn't see them, so I turned back around only to find Patrick on one knee with a ring in hand.

We knew right away we wanted a hotel for our wedding, which would be a multi-day affair. We immediately fell in love with the The Westin Governor Morris Hotel. It’s incredibly classy. We loved the two-tiered ballroom and that we could have one of our ceremonies outside by the gazebo and the other in the ballroom.

Everyone at The Westin Governor Morris was incredibly kind and welcoming. We worked with David Lombardi, the director of catering, and he was so helpful to ensure we were able to have everything the way we wanted. He made the postponement process so stress-free and got us excited again to have our wedding after a year delay. The hotel staff were also incredibly accommodating, helpful, and always available for questions or last-minute requests.

Our first event at The Westin was the Indian pre-wedding ceremonies in State Ballroom A & B. That evening we had our sangeet in the Governor’s Ballroom. The Hindu wedding ceremony took place in the Governor’s Ballroom and the Christian wedding ceremony took place outside by the Gazebo.

It had been raining on and off all day but the rain broke just long enough for us to have our outdoor ceremony. The first drop of rain fell as we said “I Do” and had our first kiss.  We then had cocktail hour in the Promenade. We had spectacular acrobats performing. One hung upside down from a hoop and poured champagne to our guests and one had a beautiful hoop skirt filled with drinks. It was so unique!

We were blown away by our reception in the Governor’s ballroom. Our décor was amazing with abundant florals and colors. For the reception, we had minimal bunches of flowers, some low and some high, all accented by floating candles. We chose emerald and white for our linens, which went well with the greenery found at each stage of the day. Our first dance was painted beautifully in the moment and now hangs in our home as a gorgeous reminder of our wedding. Once we opened the dance floor to everyone, the dancing never stopped. Our DJ was so engaging and made sure our wedding guests were entertained all night long.

We are still receiving compliments on the food catered by Chand Palace and they have become like family. Our menu was unique and delicious, accommodating both the Indian and American palates well. Everything was vegetarian and even the meat-eaters enjoyed the food.

We are so incredibly thankful for our vendors, the hotel staff, our friends, bridal party, and family for making our wedding so special. All our vendors were wonderful and made sure the whole weekend ran smoothly. The hotel personnel made sure we didn’t have to lift a finger and had nothing to worry about all weekend long. The energy for the weekend was so positive and every time we walked into a room, we instantly felt the enormous amount of love and support from our friends and family.
