"Like Family"

Krystal: Vinny and I are an online dating success story! Our love began with a solid friendship. Vinny made me laugh, and his humor remains one of his most endearing qualities. He proposed three years later in Whitestone Park, hiring a string trio to add to the magic of the night and a photographer to capture it all!

Vinny: When Krystal and I met, everything was easy going. I’d found a girl who was everything I wanted, and I wasn’t letting her go. Ultimately, when looking for a venue, my main goal was just to make her happy. Still, when we walked out of Maritime Parc, I was just as sure we should get married there as she was. We felt like it matched the chill, New-York-lounge feel we wanted.

Krystal: We love the city and wanted a modern space that showcased the Manhattan skyline. We fell in love with the Aviary room which mimics a chapel with its high-vaulted wooden ceilings. The entire venue feels fun and chic, and working with the staff at Maritime Parc was a pleasure. I was in communication with Jayd Kingston, the sales manager, and Jette Starniri, the vice president of operations, almost daily. They were extremely thorough and kind, came up with solutions, and in the end it didn’t feel like business; it felt like family.

Vinny: Planning a wedding during the pandemic presented its obstacles, but Maritime Parc was so accommodating. I was able to call the owner and discuss our contract with him when restrictions were in place. They met us half-way, something they didn’t have to do! Jayd kept Krystal well informed through the whole process.

Krystal: Before the ceremony, my bridal attendant, Patricia, calmed my nerves while I waited on the beautiful spiral staircase with my father. She helped me be present and in the moment, and I really appreciated her genuine care. During our ceremony, Vinny and I read the special notes we’d written to each other. This was one of our favorite moments, and we have unbelievable photos with the Statue of Liberty in the backdrop!

Vinny: Cocktail hour was impressive. The string trio from our ceremony continued playing for cocktail hour. Krystal’s father is a chef, so food was very important to us and Maritime Parc’s was phenomenal. Everything was fresh and laid out beautifully, and they did a custom mocktail for us, the “Krystal Wave.” Some of our favorite foods were the duck confit risotto and the scallop ceviche.

Krystal: Our décor was romantic. Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were in the same area and Maritime Parc transitioned the space flawlessly. We loved that no time was wasted shuffling from one room to another. The floral arch from our ceremony was perfect for photo-ops during the reception. Our high and low centerpieces, made of white florals and greenery, were accompanied by an abundance of candlelight.

The modern candelabras on our black velvet linens were stunning, and complemented the glass walls of Maritime, letting in the night sky. Our sweetheart table was set up at the front of the room, so there are many photos of Vinny and I with the skyline lit up behind us. There wasn’t a bad seat in the house!

Vinny: Dinner started with heirloom tomato confit, arugula, and burrata cheese. The entrée course options were roasted garlic chicken breast, a duo of beef, and a vegetarian option. Maritime gave me all three and each one was on point.

Krystal: The dinner was perfect. Ahead of time, I expressed concern for my niece, who has a severe tree nut allergy. The staff came to her table at each course to ensure everything was safe for her to eat. Our cake was exceptional! A carrot cake with a cream cheese filling and caramel schmear, and a vanilla cake with chocolate ganache filling and raspberry schmear, adorned with a nurse-bride and a construction-worker-groom cake topper.

Krystal & Vinny: Our wedding was the perfect, intimate event filled with love. We’d like to thank all our guests for traveling and being with us. Thank you to Krystal’s mom, Lydia Colon, for keeping Krystal focused and calm. To Vinny’s mom, Donna Moschella, thank you for offering so much guidance and being the queen of details! Thank you to Jayd and Jette. We cannot say enough about how well these women do their job! We wouldn’t change a single thing about our experience with Maritime Parc.
