"A Treasure, A Hidden Gem"

Bree: Justin and I have two stories of how we met. I say we met on Facebook when I got a friend request from him. I thought he was really handsome and accepted. He messaged me claiming he, “Thought he knew me.” I think he really just thought I was cute and wanted an excuse to message me.

Justin: We’re both occupational therapists. Since there aren’t many of us around, it’s a relatively close knit community. Really, I thought she looked familiar! After scrolling through her photos, I realized I was wrong but also that she was definitely cute. I messaged her around 7:30pm on April 5th and things took off.

Bree: Our first date was in my hometown in Bloomfield. We met at a restaurant and didn’t end our date for hours. We had such a strong connection and so much in common, I knew by our second date I wanted to marry him.

Justin: It was so natural for me to be comfortable and vulnerable with Bree, I knew I was meant to be with her. We’ve always had a blast together, and after a year and a half I proposed! When thinking about where to have our wedding, we knew from experience Birchwood Manor was a magnificent spot. Family members of mine have been married there before and every time the food is outstanding, the scenery is beautiful, and the service is excellent. It was our ideal venue inside and out.

Bree: Birchwood Manor is such an incredible estate with gorgeous grounds filled with fountains, sculptures, and millions of flowers. The staff is amazing and so kind. They made us and our guests feel comfortable in Covid times and were accommodating and flexible for Justin and I during planning. Birchwood Manor delivers the most amazing quality in everything they do. It’s truly a treasure, a hidden gem.

Justin: Our ceremony was at Bree’s local church, Sacred Heart. We had a traditional Catholic wedding and then our day with Birchwood started at cocktail hour. We loved everything and liked choosing different items for our menu. The penne alla vodka and the eggplant rollatini were personal favorites of mine. The seafood as well was a great selection, with clams, shrimp, oysters, the whole nine yards.

Bree: We chose a whimsical spring aesthetic with lots of lavender, white, and light blue. Birchwood Manor reminds me of an enchanted garden. Inside, the grand ballroom is incredibly elegant, with large, ornate chandeliers. We mentioned that we’d like to honor Justin’s father, who’d recently passed away from cancer, and we loved the touching memorial created by Michael Marino and Farrell Holleran, banquet managers. We could see it was carefully thought out, with candles, flowers, and a photograph of Justin’s father. They took their time and it meant a lot to us.

Justin: The sky is the limit with Birchwood Manor and everyone is quick to go above and beyond. For dinner, our waiters checked in regularly to ensure everyone had everything they wanted. The entrées, garlic herb-crusted prime ribs, chicken Mark Anthony, and grilled salmon, were chosen by our guests tableside and brought out in a timely manner. I had the prime rib and it was fantastic. Our wedding cake, created by Birchwood’s on-premise bakery, was beautiful, with cascading roses and lavender. We have the cannoli-filled top tier in our freezer to eat on our one-year anniversary!

Bree: Our DJ was awesome and the large dance floor at Birchwood Manor made everyone feel comfortable. The DJ brought smoke machines that were really fun. He also did a tribute to Justin’s dad in an uplifting way by playing his favorite song. Our photographers had a light that showed our name and wedding date on the wall. It was a great atmosphere!

Justin & Bree: Thank you to our vendors for being so creative and fun. We have incredible photos in the rain and we appreciate Anthony Ziccardi’s talent! To everyone at Birchwood Manor, you gave us a perfect wedding! Thank you to our family and friends for being so flexible and always having our backs. We were surrounded by support and we are very fortunate to have had such a great team!
