"Absolutely Delicious"

We met seven years ago when I was working at Dunkin’ Donuts. My friends were in a constant rotation of visiting me and one day they had someone new with them, Greg. From then on, I just happened to be around whenever they were together with him! I vividly remember being at a car meet with my friend Bo, not knowing that Greg was going to be there and from there we just hung out more often until he asked me out on a date. It was at a fancy restaurant in Danbury CT in the middle of an ice storm, but we both made it and instantly made a connection.

Five years later, we had plans to celebrate Greg’s birthday with his parents. As we were walking into the restaurant, he brought me to a little area off to the side that was decorated with Christmas lights. He got down on one knee, as he always did at this point of our relationship, and popped the question!

Because he did this to me almost every weekend — and since I’ve fallen victim to the old shoe-tying trick every time — I told him to get up because I was cold and wanted to go inside. But this time it was real! I thought he was joking. I thought the ring was fake too. There is no other way I would have wanted it to happen though. It was unexpected, romantic, and totally his style.

We went venue viewing the following weekend. Our first and only stop was The Garrison. When we drove up that long driveway it actually took our breath away. We were stunned and there was no way I was walking away from it without booking a date.

We were graciously greeted by Annie Rozycki, who helped us coordinate everything and I’m pretty sure the first thing I asked her was "How is the food?” But Annie did not disappoint and the chefs blew us away.

There is nothing we would have changed that day. Our florist also exceeded our expectations; the ballroom was just stunning. Half the tables had high centerpieces and half had low centerpieces with lots of candles. My vision was simple romantic. Our wedding cake was a surprise for everyone, once we saw that we could pick funfetti as a flavor, which I make each year for Greg’s birthday.

Everything was absolutely delicious. Cocktail hour included an Asian station with shrimp and vegetable stir fry with bean sprouts and scallions, fried chicken with pot stickers and ponzu sauce, and more. We had a Jamaican station with fried plantains, Jamaican beef patties, and red beans and rice. We also had pigs in a blanket with Dijon mustard and creamy tomato soup with grilled cheese brioche. For entrées, guests chose from herb-roasted chicken breast, sautéed jumbo shrimp, or NY strip steak, each serve with roasted Brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes.

There are so many people we want to thank for making such a magical, special beautiful day for us. We want to thank our parents, Laurie and Anthony Fricchione and Peggy and Joe Bellamy, Annie, and everyone at the Garrison for being so attentive. Nicole for her creativity in transforming The Garrison into an even more beautiful venue, Leo for making us feel so relaxed, knowing The Garrison inside and out, and capturing every beautiful moment. Brittany for listening to and then creating everyone's personal hair needs. Meg for also being so easy-going and turning everyone into the best versions of themselves. The Espresso Guys for making delicious coffee drinks that people are still talking about, and lastly, Father Szymon, who made our ceremony so special and personal. It’s a day we will never forget.
